Title: Dung Ho!
Common Name: Rainbow Scarab Beetle
Found in the United States from the Rocky Mountains eastward to the Atlantic, the Rainbow Scarab Beetle is one of North America’s most colorful beetles. Depending on the angle of the sunlight hitting the hard exoskeleton of these alien-like insects, shades of green, purple, copper, yellow, red and even more can been seen. They feed on animal excrement and are beneficial in breaking down dung, thus reducing the resources for pest insects like flies.
